Returning from the Rooted In Jesus Conference in Atlanta

By Simone Monique Barnes

Simone is back from Atlanta where she attended the Episcopal “Rooted in Jesus” conference in January with guest speakers such as the Presiding Bishop Michael Curry, the Bishop William J. Barber II, and many more. In addition to lots of continuing education sessions, and looking through new books and formation resources for our children’s and youth formation, she spent time with Episcoplians from everywhere (2,000-2,500 attended the conference and revival) and spent lots of time with the St. James’, Houston, Christian formation team.

During the conference, Simone became a certified to teach Dismantling Racism Youth Curriculum through the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing with Executive Director, Dr. Catherine Meeks, in Atlanta.

This will help us to create a complementary youth education program to our own One Human Race training.
