Welcome Table

Welcome Table, Inc.

MISSION: The mission of the Welcome Table is to create greater access to education, mental and physical health, and quality food for children, families, and elderly neighbors in our east Austin community. In partnership with local schools, farms, and other nonprofit organizations we offer programs and resources intended to bring people together for inspiration, sustenance, and friendship.  Our primary programs are Neighbor 2 Neighbor and Freedom Schools – Austin.

Help us prepare and distribute free bags of pantry staples, fresh produce and diapers to low-income seniors, families, and immunocompromised East Austin neighbors. All volunteer activities are conducted according to strict social distancing protocols, including the use of masks and gloves (provided upon request). To sign up for shifts, please click here.

Service Teams (Tuesday afternoons and even.ings):
Distribute food and diapers to neighbors with walk-through appointments. There are indoor and outdoor volunteer positions. We especially need people who speak Spanish, and people who are comfortable being on their feet for hour or two.

Food and Diaper Packers (Tuesday mornings and afternoons):
Small groups (<10) pack pantry staples, fresh produce, and diapers using CDC-recommended preparation protocols.

Food Truck Unloading (Monday mornings):
Move 1,000-3,000 pounds of pantry staples. These shifts involve lifting and pushing/pulling dollies, so wear weather-appropriate athletic clothes.

To sign up for shifts, please click here.
There are also virtual volunteer opportunities. Please email volunteer@welcometableaustin.org if you are interested in helping make calls from home, or if you have questions.
